tattoo or not tattoo- part deux
29 AprSo as a follow up to my previous post- A few people have been asking if I went through with the tattoo or not..and I DID!!
Ended up getting two in the end..
I warn you all— anyone thinking of getting one done..getting your ink ON is seriously addictive stuff.. Even when i was half way through ink #1 I was already thinking ooohhh.. maybe I should get this or that next time…
So I went in and spoke to the artist, told him what it was that I wanted and he made a stencil to make sure it was in the right position, the right size and to see if it was what I REALLY wanted.
wuhuuuu!! I love them 🙂 I’ll post soon to tell a little more about what made me go in that direction….and a few more ideas about what’s to come eeeeeeeeeep!
motivate – look forward not back…
19 Febso it’s the middle of february and I reckon everyone is feeling that spring is in the air and it’s time to get out walking, eating habits improving and couch time moreso for sunday evening.
here are a few thoughts to help you along the way.. they definitely give me something to think about over the past few months…out with the old and in with the new i suppose…
new year’s resolutions are already getting ticked off as i started a new job last week that I LOVE, the work, the people and the place so YUHU!
2 trips away with the girls are ALMOST fully booked and I’m planning to either do the ‘camino’ and a trip to the south of spain and morocco or a few weeks in nz or thailand for the rest of my ‘school’ hols. not quite 3 months but hey at least i don’t need to remortgage myself to go away anymore. meh to student loans. meh.
berlin awaits myself and denise near the end of march to wander the markets and see the lovely florence and the machine and manchester and blackpool will be offering myself and ciara fish n’ chips in newspaper and candyfloss along blackpool pleasure beach 🙂
between then and now, i reckon myself and the girls will get away for a treat and i’d love to make it over to the girls in britland too 🙂 wupeeeeee!
anywho, I’m writing this for those lovely words of wisdom so here they are below – let me know what you think or if you have any to add below xx

jar of rocks – food for thought
6 FebDad sent me this today when he was at work…and it actually made me stop and think about things…
A professor stood before his philosophy class on the last day of their university life.
He had some items in front of him on a table – a large empty glass jar and 4 plastic buckets, one of which was upside down.
“On this, your last day”, he said, “I want to leave you with something that will help you live a successful life.”
He picked up the empty glass jar and started to fill it with rocks, taken from the first bucket.
When the last rock was placed in the jar, he then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.The professor then picked up the second bucket, in which there was gravel and poured it into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The gravel rolled into the open areas between the rocks.
He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was although some were wondering what was in the next bucket.
The professor lifted it up to reveal that it was full of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up all the remaining crevices between the rocks and gravel.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous ‘yes.’
The professor then lifted the bucket that was upside down to reveal a cup of coffee. He lifted the cup and poured the entire contents into the jar, and the class watched as the coffee was soaked into the sand. The students laughed.
“Now,”said the professor, as the laughter subsided,”Here’s the message. I want you to recognise that this jar represents your life.
The rocks are the important things – your self-expression, family, children, health, friends, and favourite passions.Things, that if everything else was lost, and only they
remained, your life would still be full. The gravel represents the things that matter like your work, house, and car.The sand is everything else — The small stuff.”
“IF you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued,”there is no room for the gravel or rocks.” The same goes for life.
If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So.Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner or for a walk and chat. Focus on your passions. Do something you love every day.
There will always be time to paint the house mend that
dripping tap.
‘Take care of the rocks first. The things that really matter. Set your priorities. “The rest is just sand,” said the professor.
One of the students raised her hand and enquired what the cup of coffee represented.
The professor smiled.
‘I’m glad you asked’.
“It’s there to remind you that no matter how full your life may seem, there’s always room for a chat and coffee with a
friend.”
Everyone can be ‘busy’, but are we busy focusing on the things that really don’t matter?

Smile – this is just so beautiful
24 Jan
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though its breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you’ll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come shining through for you
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, whats the use of crying
Youll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile
quick and easy exercises to do at home
22 JanA lot of people tell me they are stuck for time when it comes to exercise so below you will find a quick and effective way to get strong and healthy fast.
If you live on a middle floor apartment you might want to wait until the neighbours are out – there will be jumping and there will be ‘effort noises’, trust me I tried it for the first time last night…
30 jumping jacks
7 pushups
25 knee highs
7 burpees
10 crunches
7 squats
7 pushups
10 crunches
7 pushups
7 squats
30 jumping jacks
1 minute wall sit
7Â pushups
25 kneehighs
Note: I am used to doing squats and crunches so I ‘upped’ my numbers accordingly starting with day 1, but if it is your first time, just one rep of this whole session should be enough for the first week or second week of your training.
Next week try 2 reps of the whole workout and keep that for two weeks and so on…Between 3-5 reps 3 days a week and you will be seeing some amazing results in your energy levels and general look and fitness.
